Malivuk called the meeting to order at 6:20pm due to a delay setting up Zoom. Secretary’s Report (S. Thompson) • M. Bond moved and M. Anderson seconded accepting the August minutes as written. East Alumni Association Golf Outing (F. Silvey)• L. Bond reported on the Golf Outing in the absence of F. Silvey. • L. Bond stated the Golf Outing was a tremendous success. • L. Bond stated there is still money outstanding and a final report will be submitted at the October meeting; however, profits at present are approximately $7500 ($3000 over last year). • L. Bond reported there were more sponsors this year with all 20 slots being filled. • M. Bond submitted a list of suggestions for the 2024 Golf Outing. Treasurer’s Report (L. Oliver stated the August Board Meeting Minutes were posted on the website. • M. Oliver posted on the website and facebook a reminder to golfers to bring coolers. • M. Oliver posted scholarship recognition on the website and facebook. • M. Oliver reported the invitation to the September Board Meeting was posted on the website and facebook. • M. Oliver posted the Zoom meeting information on the website, facebook and facebook chat. • A thank you was posted to Ron and Linda Weaver for providing shirt donations for the golf outing. • The Board Meeting Agenda was posted on facebook and facebook chat for the September Zoom Meeting.
- Reverse Raffle (J. Stanley, L. Bond) • M. Bond reported a date has been reserved at Guy’s Party Center for Thursday, March 7, 2024, for the Reverse Raffle. • M. Bond reviewed the purpose of the Reverse Raffle which is to build the scholarship fund. Scholarship (M. Bond) • M. Bond reviewed the background on the scholarship recipients this year with 9 having followed through to date, 1 decided on the military, and 2 who have not responded. • M. Nickolich suggested M. Bond follow up with those who have not responded; M. Bond plans to correspond with the liaison at ECLC on these two. • M. Bond reported that there is a possibility for renewals in December. 60+ Reunion (J. Stanley/M. Bond) • M. Bond stated there is no report except the date is set for Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Guy’s. • M. Bond reported we are still receiving thank-yous from this year’s reunion. Hall of Fame (D. Hoff) • D. Hoff reported the nominees are the same as last month and reviewed each. • D. Hoff announced a new nominee was sent today, Abby Morrison, and the summary is to follow. • D. Hoff reminded us that nominees will be accepted until November 30, 2023. • D. Hoff stated the inductions will be in April, 2024, but no date has been set yet. • L. Bond reported that the HoF list is being updated, comparing the list to those on the ECLC wall, and the list is close to being completed. • M. Bond announced that Charles Sykes (a 2022 inductee) passed away recently. Memorabilia (M. Oliver, L. Bond) • L. Bond reported the 1979 yearbook has been scanned, and he will be working next on the four yearbooks loaned by S. Thompson. Elections (C. Malivuk) • Officer & Trustees positions up for reelection were inducted. Those inducted are President (Mike Oliver), Secretary (Sally Thompson), and Trustees 1(John Stanley), 2 (Janet Stanley), 5 (David Hoff), 6 (Mike Nickolich), 9 (Marsha Bond) and 10 (Michelle Anderson). These are two-year terms. Other Business • M. Bond reported that she and L. Bond represented the Board at the ECLC staff full faculty meeting and took snacks and water for the Back to School Night. • There were 109 faculty members present (30 were new) attending the Staff Full Faculty meeting. • M. Bond presented the purpose of the Alumni Association to the attendees of the faculty meeting; how the Association assists ECLC; and how to access that assistance. • M. Nickolich gave a report on the progress of assessing the MIC situation at ECLC. The meeting was joined by the ECLC Band Director who reported on what had been done to this point. He stated that the AV Department is still working on it and will keep us apprised. M. Nickolich agreed to spearhead this project. • M. Nickolich suggested a bowling event to raise money; a discussion followed. • M. Anderson submitted an outline of ideas to work with the new owners of the Linda Theater for an event there for fundraising. M. Anderson asked for feedback on these ideas. • Guest Ken Larson inquired on the procedure to become a member; C. Malivuk explained the procedure and encouraged him to consider becoming a board member.
